MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES DEVELOPMENT (MSMED) ACT 2006

The District Industries Centre is the competent authority to acknowledge the Entrepreneur Memorandum filled by the entrepreneur for both setting up an Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises unit as Part-I and Production Commenced Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises units as Part-II as per the MSME Act 2006 (Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises Act 2006). The Government have now relaxed this procedure to help the entrepreneur for obtaining the both Entrepreneur Memorandum Acknowledgements through online. For Registration of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises through online, the entrepreneur can browse the website http://www.msmeonline.tn.gov.in and select the option "Filing of Part-I" for setting up an Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and select the option "Filing of Part-II" for Production Commenced Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.


Classification of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises

As per Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises Act 2006, the industries are classified as Manufacturing Sector and Service sector.



MANUFACTURING ENTERPRISES

  • Micro Manufacturing Enterprises:
    The investment in plant and machinery does not exceed Rs.25 lakhs (Rupees twenty five lakhs only).
  • Small Manufacturing Enterprises:
    The invesetment in plant and machinery is more than twenty five lakh rupees but does not exceed rupees 5 crores (Rupees five crores only).
  • Medium Manufacturing Enterprises:
    The investment in plant and machinery is more than rupees 5 crores but not exceeding Rs.10 crores (Rupees ten crores only).

SERVICE ENTERPRISES

  • Micro Service Enterprises:
    The investment in equipment does not exceed rupees 10 lakhs.
  • Small Service Industries:
    The investment in equipment is more than 10 (Ten lakh rupees) but does not exceeds rupees 2 crores.
  • Medium Service Enterprises:
    The investment in equipment is more than rupees 2 crores but does not exceed rupees 5 crores.
